Ultimate Modelling Products are proud sponsors of Models for Heroes
Models for Heroes (M4H) is a non for profit charity organisation based in the UK. Run by Malcolm Childs, a modeller himself, for the benefit of our armed personnel across the country. Malcolm needs donations from anyone that is willing and able to support this great cause. A donation can be in the form of unused model kits, tools, paints or anything model related. He will also accept Airfix Flying Hours tokens and of course, money! If you have anything spare at all lying around at home or in the man cave that you're not going to use, then please donate it to M4H, it's a wonderful cause associated directly with our hobby.
M4H provide and encourage scale modelling activities and supply the UK armed forces community. Recovery centres, organisations and charities can run modelling groups for free - There are 35 modelling sessions across the UK supported by 70 volunteers helping around 150 veterans per month with their modelling activities.
Armed Forces personnel are very likely to suffer from mental health problems after returning from duty due to the high stress, trauma of duty and the sudden change to civilian life. The rates of PTSD, anxiety, depression, homelessness and suicide are higher in veterans than any other group in the UK.
The simple hobby of scale modelling has been found to support the clinical treatments of mental health injuries. By relieving stress, promoting focus, confidence and friendship with the many model clubs, societies and forums relating to scale modelling. Veterans can enjoy creating a model, follow instructions, pay attention to detail and enjoy military themed subjects making scale modelling a perfect hobby.
